LAW 225 - Family Law Pleadings relative to general practice of law in relationships to the family unit. Laws relating to marriage, divorce, annulment, custody and support, adoption, name change, guardianship, paternity. Written pleadings and necessary research pertaining to these aspects of family law.
Credits: 3 Hours 3 Class Hours Course Profile Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Articulate an understanding of the rules governing the doctrine of equitable distribution by explaining the rules to a client in need of legal advice.
- Demonstrate an understanding of current case law in the Family Law substantive area of the law by reading and preparing legal briefs of particular case law.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Divorce process by filing a petition in divorce and creating a separation agreement.
