Accreditation

SUNY Broome Community College is an Accredited institution and member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE or the Commission) www.msche.org. SUNY Broome Community College’s accreditation status is Accreditation Reaffirmed. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on June 24, 2021 was to reaffirm. MSCHE is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation and pre-accreditation (candidate status) activities for institutions of higher education including distance, correspondence education, and direct assessment programs offered at those institutions. The Commission’s geographic area of accrediting activities is throughout the United States.

Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Summary: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) gives students the right to inspect and review their education records and, under certain circumstances, the right to request that such records be amended. It limits the right of the State University of New York (University) and its campuses to disclose education records or information contained in such records without the student’s consent. FERPA also requires that campuses notify students, on an annual basis, of their rights under FERPA. The University is committed to protecting the privacy of personally identifiable information contained in education records in accordance with FERPA. Accordingly, this statement sets forth the procedures that the University will use to comply with FERPA.
