Course Profile
Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate safe and competent application of electrotherapeutic agents, mechanical spinal traction, and electromyographic biofeedback.
  2. Identify the principles of implementation, treatment rationale, safety considerations, and anticipated patient responses with electrotherapeutic agents, mechanical spinal traction, and electromyographic biofeedback.
  3. Demonstrate professional therapeutic communication with patients from the point of establishing rapport, obtaining patient status information, and while communicating instruction and education to patients while providing treatment.
  4. Appropriately recognize and report changes in patient status and adjust or discontinue modality use within the plan of care of the physical therapist based on surrogate patient verbal and non-verbal responses during case scenario application.
  5. Recognize how social constructs related to diversity (e.g. race, gender, and social class) can create inequitable access to healthcare and respond in a culturally sensitive manner, through case scenario application.
  6. Demonstrate accurate, clear, concise written documentation and billing code recognition related to case study scenario application.
