CST 117 - Problem Solving & Communication Tools An introduction to tools for problem solving, decision making and communications. This course presents several soft skill tools. Topics include: problem solving techniques, report creation, effective email and memo creation, formal and informal communication tools, team building and working in groups, and formal presentation preparation.
Credits: 3 Hours 2 Class Hours, 2 Laboratory Hours Course Profile Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate critical thinking by clearly articulating an issue or problem both verbally and in writing; identifying, analyzing, and evaluating ideas, data, and arguments as they occur in their own or others’ work; acknowledging limitations such as perspective and bias; and developing well-reasoned (logical) arguments to form judgments and/or draw conclusions.
- Use decision tools to solve both technical and non-technical problems verbally and in writing.
- Use email and memos to communicate effectively.
- Create and deliver orally a professional presentation.
