CRJ 235 - Corrections Administration
This course provides an understanding of management principles specific to the field of corrections and how the field has changed over time. Students will learn to think critically, legally and ethically about such issues. Topics will include: budget, personnel, legal requirements, planning, training and community relations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Identify the historical development of jails, prisons, probation and parole and how administration has changed over time.
- Explain the importance of classification for security and rehabilitation purposes.
- Explain operational issues and best practices in areas of medical care, food service, budgeting, personnel, security and programs.
- Using concepts discussed in the course, students will prepare a research report on a current correctional management issue.
