ART 110 - Modern Art


Art of the late 19th century.  Impressionism (circa 1870) to Cubism and other forms of abstract art.  Panorama of 20th century visual movements including Futurism, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, and Post-Modernism.  Slide/lecture format and field trips.

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

  1. Understanding of at least one principal form of artistic expression and the creative process inherent therein.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of the conventions and methods of at least one of the humanities.
  3. Recognize and analyze nuance and complexity of meaning through critical reflections on text, visual images, or artifacts.
