HIT 214 - CPT and HCPCS Coding A study of CPT and HCPCs as it relates to ambulatory and physician coding. An overview of ambulatory and physician coding and data collection. Theories and practical applications of ambulatory and physician payment methodologies.
Prerequisite- Corequisite Prerequisite: HIT 204 ICD-10-CM & PCS Coding System, HIT 205 Coding Practicum
Credits: 3 Hours 2 Class Hours, 2 Laboratory Hours Course Profile Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. Identify the sections of the CPT and HCPCs book.
2. Discuss the format and organization of CPT and HCPCs.
3. Discuss the coding guidelines that relate to CPT and HCPCs.
4. Accurately code medical services and procedures using CPT and HCPCs.
