FRS 201 - Fire Service Hydraulics Application of the laws of mathematics and physics to properties of fluid states, force pressure and flow velocities. Emphasis on applying principles of hydraulics to fire fighting problems.
Prerequisite- Corequisite Prerequisite: MAT 093 Integrated Arithmetic and Basic Algebra or equivalent
Credits: 3 Hours 3 Class Hours Course Profile Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. Define hydraulics and explain its origin as a science and its history within the fire service.
2. Understand the six principles of pressure.
3. Understand and apply Bernoulli’s theorem as it applies to hydraulics.
4. Recognize the origins of formulas used to calculate gallons per minute, velocity and flow of water streams.
