CRJ 111 - Introduction to Criminal Justice
This course provides the student with a foundation for integrated instruction throughout the criminal justice curriculum. Students will learn about the three components of the criminal justice system: law enforcement, courts and corrections.
Prerequisite- Corequisite
Prerequisite: Writing placement score equivalent to ENG 110 College Writing I or better

Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Explain what the criminal justice system is and the roles of law enforcement, courts, and corrections.
- Identify the various steps and specific goals of the criminal justice system.
- Describe the specific categories of crime and the impact crime has on society within the United States.
- Explain the differences between local, state and federal law enforcement, and their purpose.
- Describe the dual court system.
- Explain the difference between jails and prisons and the functions and purposes of both.
- Explain and justify the innovative approaches to punishment and sentencing in society today.
