Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

Medical Administrative Skills (MAS) Certificate Program will provide graduates with the skills and resources to acquire employment in an entry-level Medical Administrative position in various medical offices.  It will provide students with the opportunity to begin a professional career in as little as two semesters and fulfill a need for highly qualified personnel with advanced skills in the field of medical administration.  The Bureau of Labor and Statistics shows a 27% increase in the area of Medical Secretaries through the year 2018.

The Medical Administrative Skills Certificate program will also afford the student the opportunity to transfer credits into other SUNY degree granting programs.  The certificate program consists of 30/31 credits of coursework, and is a blend of Biology, Medical Terminology, Medical Office Procedures, Pathophysiology, Medical Law and Ethics, and many other courses specific to the certificate program.  Some of the courses will be available to the student in an on-line or blended format as well as in the traditional classroom-based setting.

Admission requirements are consistent with the other certificate programs offered in the Health Science Division and include a recommendation of Math Level 1 and Regents-level Biology.  These courses ensure that the students have the adequate background and foundational knowledge to meet the prerequisite requirements for all required coursework.
