HST 222 - Healthcare of the Underserved
This course examines the unique health challenges faced by underserved and minority populations. Students explore the root causes of health disparities, the impact of culture and access on health outcomes, and the role of public health systems and education programs in promoting equity. Emphasis is placed on culturally competent care and effective strategies for community health improvement.

Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Describe diverse underserved and minority populations and their unique health challenges.
- Explain the root causes of health inequalities and analyze public health programs and policies designed to address these inequities.
- Evaluate the influence of culture/cultural competence, public health systems, healthcare access, communities, and individual behaviors on health and wellness outcomes.
- Explain the process of planning, implementing, and evaluating community health education programs.
