Theory and practice of state and local government, utilizing a problem-solving or “policy” approach.  Students are encouraged to explore in depth the workings of city and county governments locally.  Satisfies the civic education requirement.

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

  1. Identify the major theories used by political scientists to study State and Local government.
  2. Identify the major research methods used by political scientists to study State and Local government.
  3. Analyze political behavior using at least one of the major theories used by political scientists.
  4. Discuss contemporary political issues from the political science perspective.
