ART 111 - History of Decorative Arts: 1600-Present Introduction to the development of style in fabric, furniture and accessories for the interior from 1600 to the present. Emphasis will be placed on the history of American interiors. Required for interior design students, recommended for students in Art and Design and as an elective for students interested in history or American Studies.
Credits: 3 Hours 3 Class Hours Course Profile Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. Identify periods in western furniture and decorative elements.
2. Understand of causes in stylistic change.
3. Understand the social, economic, political and technological context of American culture from 1600 to the present.
