Mission
The mission of the Civil Engineering Technology program is to prepare our students for careers in the construction industry with an A.A.S degree and/or the possibility of transferring to a 4-year Civil Engineering Technology program. The program utilizes small class sizes as well as hands on laboratories in a majority of classes to provide students the skills necessary to become a competent and well-respected engineer. Our faculty are proud to work with employers to continuously improve the program and maintain our ABET accreditation.
Program Learning Outcomes
- An ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve well-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- An ability to design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the engineering design of systems, components, or processes appropriate to the discipline.
- An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in well-defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- An ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results.
- An ability to function effectively as a member of a technical team.

Civil Engineering Technology (CET) is a diverse field with excellent employment opportunities locally, state-wide, and nationally. Graduates are involved in all phases of the construction industry, from planning and design of buildings, bridges, highways, commercial and industrial facilities, to management and inspection of the construction process. Rewarding careers may be found with consulting engineering companies, construction companies, and governmental agencies such as the NYS Department of Transportation or Broome County’s engineering department.
