Mission

The Criminal Justice: Corrections A.S. program prepares students for positions in any field of criminal justice, with an emphasis on corrections, including probation and parole. Courses are taught by faculty with real-world experience. The program features a blend of SUNY General Education and Liberal Arts requirements along with coursework specific to corrections. This program promotes critical thinking, professionalism, and ethical responsibility. The Criminal Justice: Corrections A.S. program prepares students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related programs.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will describe the components of the criminal justice system.
  2. Students will describe the duties, roles, and procedures within the field of corrections.
  3. Students will analyze the various options of the adjudication and corrections process.
  4. Students will demonstrate effective written communication skills.

  • General Education Math (3-4 Credits)
  • Criminal Justice Elective (any CRJ, EMT, FRS, HLS not already required) (3 Credits)

Spring Semester (13.5-14.5 Credits)


  • General Education Foreign Language, or General Education Arts (3-4 Credits)
  • General Education Humanities Elective (3 Credits)
  • Social Science Elective (3 Credits)

Total Credits Required to Graduate: 60.50-62.50
