The Environmental Science program is an interdisciplinary program designed to prepare students for transfer into four-year Environmental Science and Studies programs. The program is modeled after the first two-years of Environmental Science and Studies programs at schools such as Binghamton University and the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
Students will learn basic scientific concepts and understand the interrelationship of these concepts with the environment. A strong emphasis on sustainability, ecological impact and the politics of the environment will be addressed in the program.
SEQUENCE OF COURSES: The following model meets all program requirements for students who are pursuing full-time study and wish to complete the course work in four semesters. Those who desire a slower pace or need preparatory courses will require more than four semesters.
Learning Outcomes:
- Explain environmental issues related to New York State, the United States and the world.
- Understand the scientific concepts that intimately affect environmental problems and solutions.
- Define the policies and solutions used by governmental agencies and individuals to respond to environmental issues.
