Casino Management: Certificate

The Casino Management program becomes part of the “Hospitality Suite” of program offerings that have tremendous synergies and positive impact on the local economy and employment picture for residents of Broome County and New York State.  The Certificate is a smaller concentration of the degree offering and is intended for students that either hold degrees in other disciplines or that desire core skills without attaining a degree.  This program, when combined with the simultaneously proposed degree/certificate in Events Management, the currently exisiting program in Hotel/Restaurant Management, and the proposed future program in Culinary Arts provides the educational platform from which an entire local industry is serviced, the downtown city of Binghamton, New York is revitalized, and local hospitality employment demands are met.

Program Learning Outcomes:

  1. Possess a general understanding of games of chance found in various gaming operations.
  2. Understand and describe the general gaming regulations found throughout the industry.
  3. Articulate the positive economic impact of gaming operations.
  4. Have an introductory understanding of the sociological impact of the gaming industry.
  5. Gain introductory requirements for  gaming marketing and promotions specific to the gaming industry
  6. Demonstrate, following practical instruction and examination, the ability to play, run, supervise and manage a variety of casino/racino games.
