Course Profile
Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to assess the ethical and social implications of science in the global society while constructing logical arguments based on evidence and established scientific process.
  2. Analyze how our evolutionary past relates to both our physical structure and our behavior.
  3. Integrate the homeostatic nature of the human body and its relationship to the disease process.
  4. Identify structures of the human brain and integrate these structures with the associative behaviors.
  5. Illustrate an understanding of human genetics with emphasis on inheritance patterns, anomalies, and genetic engineering.
  6. Appraise our place in the Biosphere and accurately evaluate and debate both acceptable and unacceptable practices of our species related to this topic.
  7. Demonstrate scientific reasoning applied to the natural world, including an understanding of the methods scientists use to explore natural phenomena, including observation, hypothesis development, measurement and data collection, experimentation, evaluation of evidence, and employment of data analysis or mathematical modeling; and application of scientific data, concepts, and models in one of the natural sciences.
