CRJ 115 - Juvenile Justice System
Introduces the juvenile system to include the history, process, status and philosophy. Examination of the methods in which juveniles are managed within the criminal justice system and the ever changing approaches as a result of societal growth and deviations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Describe the structures, procedures and philosophies of the juvenile justice system within the United States.
- Explain the meaning and differences of juvenile delinquency, status offenses, and inadequate parental/guardian care.
- Describe the roles of the juvenile justice agencies when dealing with juveniles.
- Identify the resources available to juveniles and their parents/guardians, involved in the criminal justice system.
- Explain the community-based alternatives available to juvenile offenders.
- Identify the goals of juvenile courts and corrections.
- Examine issues and challenges facing the juvenile justice system today.
