POS 205 - Women and Politics This course will focus on the role of women in politics. We will start by reviewing the women’s suffrage movement in the U.S. and abroad, then examine how far women have come today. Interspersed with our historical examination, we will review the women themselves that have contributed to the progress of the women’s movement as well as look at current women contributing to the movement today. We will also consider questions such as: Does gender matter in politics? Is there a bias against women? Do women politicians have different issue priorities than their male counterparts? What is the gender gap? We will use social science methodology to hypothesize, observe, measure, and assess the roles of women in politics and the impact of the political process on women.
