The Environmental Science program is an interdisciplinary program designed to prepare students for transfer into four-year Environmental Science and Studies programs, but offers students a unique opportunity to learn in the field.  Students will take classes in the 7-week semester format which allows for laboratory field work in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and coastal South Carolina.

Students will learn basic scientific concepts and understand the interrelationship of these concepts with the environment.  A strong emphasis on sustainability, ecological impact and the politics of the environment will be addressed in the program. Applied work in the field is a unique and engaging experience for all students. SUNY Broome Community College is committed to ensuring equitable access to all of its academic courses, programs, services, and activities. Students with disabilities will be accommodated as needed within the Environmental Science program. Accommodations can vary greatly depending on individual needs and travel destinations, as such, faculty will work with students individually to develop reasonable accommodations with an emphasis on inclusion in field activities.

Sequence of Courses

The following model meets all program requirements for students who are pursuing full-time study and wish to complete the course work in four semesters.  Those who desire a slower pace or need preparatory courses will require more than four semesters.
