Basic procedures and techniques used in a criminal investigation, to include: information gathering, surveillance, interviews, interrogations, and identification, collection, preservation, and examination of physical evidence.

Course Profile
Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Explain the role and responsibilities of a criminal investigator.
- Describe the legal process for entering and establishing a crime scene.
- Demonstrate the proper way to document a crime scene and evidence with the use of photography, sketching, and other technology used by law enforcement.
- Demonstrate methods for the location, identification, collection, examination, preservation, documentation, and chain of command of physical evidence.
- Practice stationary and moving surveillance techniques.
- Explain the methods for conducting interviews and interrogations.
