A survey of Western Civilization from the 18th century to the present. This course is equivalent to HIS 100 The Rise of the West, which is no longer offered. This course fulfills the SUNY Western Civilization requirement.

Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Describe some of the main features of early modern Europe.
- Identify some of the causes and consequences of the political, social, cultural, and economic revolutions of the 18th and 19th centuries.
- Analyze some of the key developments of Western Civilization in the 20th and early 21st centuries.
- Describe the evolving relationships between Western Civilization and other societies from the early modern period to the early 21st century.
