RAD 101 - Image Production and Evaluation I


Introduction to radiographic digital imaging; including x-ray production, photon interactions with matter, principles and operation of digital imaging systems, image acquisition, image display, image analysis, image informatics, and archiving.  Lecture and laboratory (RAD 101L) are coordinated to enhance these fundamental concepts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe the components of a radiographic digital imaging system, producing an x-ray beam, and various imaging systems.
  2. Describe the image acquisition process and associated errors.
  3. Discuss the computer processing and image display process.
  4. Identify and describe basic digital image analysis, image informatics, and archiving.
