COL 105 - Liberal Arts Seminar An orientation course for first semester Liberal Arts students. Students will work on refining their personal and academic goals, explore learning and wellness strategies to enhance their academic success, and learn about careers in their fields. Students will gain writing skills specific to the liberal arts disciplines and develop proficiency in information literacy.
Credits: 1 Hours 1 Lecture Hour Course Profile Learning Outcomes of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Achieve an understanding of the role of the Liberal Arts and their place in it;
- Navigate appropriate college services, resources, and online resources;
- Develop clear academic, career, and wellness goals;
- Locate information effectively using tools appropriate to their need and discipline;
- Evaluate information from a variety of sources with an awareness of authority, validity, bias, and origin; and
- Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical dimensions of information use, creation, and dissemination whether from traditional sources or emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence.
