ART 102 - History of Western Art I

An overview of Western Art and Architecture from the 25,000 B.C.E. to about 1350 C.E.  Study of objects, sculptures, paintings, ceramics, and architecture with a focus on the social, religious, political, and philosophical influences that affected cultural development in the Ancient World.  Slide lecture format.

Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

  1. Understanding of at least one principal form of artistic expression and the creative process inherent therein.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of the conventions and methods of at least one of the humanities.
  3. Recognize and analyze nuance and complexity of meaning through critical reflections on text, visual images, or artifacts.
