SOS 101 - Contemporary World IssuesAn introduction to the ideas, methods, and materials (print, visual, and electronic) used in various social science fields, including history, political science, sociology, economics, anthropology, and geography. Topics will cover selected modern global issues such as that will change each semester, but which will focus on underlying issues of globalism, pluralism, democratic aspirations, and equity. Additional topics may cover issues in population, human rights, natural resources, development, conflict resolution, and cooperation. Intended for beginning liberal arts students who will take social science courses in the future. Daily newspaper reading is a core activity.
