A study of the legal principles governing hospitality operations including: common law, contracts, laws of tort and negligence, hotel-guest relationship, laws regarding food, food service and alcoholic beverages and employment laws.

Upon successful completion of this course:

Students will clearly articulate legal issues within hospitality contracts, understanding the roles and obligations of all parties involved.
Students will identify, analyze, and evaluate the legal obligations of hospitality entities, particularly in relation to hospitality guest protections.
Students will demonstrate an awareness of how different perspectives and bias can influence the interpretation and application of laws and contractual terms common to the hospitality industry.
Students will construct well-reasoned, written, logical arguments about legal issues in hospitality, based on the principles of law, guest protection, and contractual obligations.
