EGR 151 - Engineering Design II

A continuation of Engineering Design I. The bulk of this course focuses on continuing to develop skills with computer aided drawing (CAD) programs and the ability to use computation software such as Excel and MATLAB. Students continue working in teams on design projects with the goal of understanding and implementing the engineering design process for problem-solving. The area of engineering ethics is investigated to create in students a realization of the importance of responsible behavior in the engineering field.

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

Demonstrate the ability to analyze an engineering problem in a logical manner and apply basic principles to its solution.
Understand the role of failure in engineering design and practice.
Understand the role of engineering ethics as related to the importance of responsible behavior in the engineering field.
Demonstrate the ability to use tools useful in the design process, including Excel and MATLAB.
Describe how racism impacts engineering education and the engineering field for individuals and organizations.
