ART 113 - History of Modern DesignSurvey of modern design examines changing developments in graphics, industrial design, architecture and decorative arts from 1851 to the present. Beginning with The Exhibition of Art and Industry in London and concluding with postmodernism, mass culture and the role consumption plays in design will be explored. The course focuses on design as a creative activity influenced by technology, economics and social history. Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
