Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

Work efficiently in a laboratory setting because they will know how to make reagents; dilute solutions; physically separate phases; and calculate appropriate amounts of reagents to control chemical reactions.
Understand measuring masses, volumes and physical parameters such as pressure to determine quantities of a variety of variables either dependent or independent.
Use many diversified analytical techniques (titration, precipitation, calorimetry, and others) to determine the identity or quantity of a chemical component.
Employ inductive as well as deductive reasoning to report the chemical structure or amount of an unknown using a multitude of chemical reactions such as acid-base chemistry.
Understand the nature of atoms, elements and compounds through spectroscopy; periodic table reactivity; chemical bonding; solution interactions; and molecular geometry.
